Donation For Seremban SDA Church - Repair And Renovation Work

The Seremban SDA Church is sole SDA church in Negeri Sembilan. The church is located in the middle of Seremban town and is one of the very few churches built on a plot of land allocated for places of worship approved by the local authority.

The churches was built somewhere around 1930 and had started operating by 11th April 1931 based on official church record book. In other words, this church is about 80 years old. Although the architectural shape of this church is quite old, it is nevertheless a sourse of pride for members of the Christians because this church building is among the oldest SDA building in Malaysia.

Seremban SDA Church is very unique because its memberships encompass people of various races and tradition. Currently, it is attended by individuals from various tribes in Sabah anda Sarawak as well as Chinese, Indians and the native people (Orang Asli) of Negeri Sembilan. Other than that, the church is also attended by international students mostly from Africa such as Zimbawe and Botswana, who are studying at colleges and universities located nearby Seremban.

In view of the age of the church building which is now more than 7 decades, there are presently too many damages that are dangerous and in dire need of immediate repair/ replacement, such as the
old electrical wiring, old wooden structures, old wooden ceilings, old wooden pews and cabinets. This is because most of these items have rotted due to termite infestatio, rodents (rats) and exposed to rainwater due to the leaking roof and craks in the church wall. In view of safety, the church committee has decided that the church repair and renovation be made an outmost priority, because the safety of the congregation is the responsibility of everyone.

Aside from that, the installation of sliding windows, window grills and increasing the height of the compound wall should also be made due to the noisy environment caused by the busy road situated around the church. Also, the church intends to install air conditioning units because as of now, the church is only equipped with 5 units of old fans and because the hot environment of the church, it causes discomfort to the congregation during church service.

The church committee has also suggested that
tiles be inatslled on the floor of the church to make it look clean, because the current cemented floor looks very dirty and untidy. It is also suggested to increase the numbers of pews from the current 8 to 16 pews, in order to accommadate the increasing presence of church members and as a preparation to receive new members. The church also in dire needs of a new kitchen, cabinets, bathrooms, a store room and audio visual equipments such as LCD projector, white screen, etc. The church also need re-painting and a verandah should be constructed at the back of the church, to be the main entrance of the church.

Due to the fact that the numbers of children as well as those of the orang asli are increasing
, the church committee has decided to build an extra room for the children at the Parsonage (outside) and intends to purchase a used van for transporting the Orang Asli to Church every Sabbath.

For your information, 10% of the allocated fund for this project will be used for outreach work in Negeri Sembilan especially to the native people (Orang Asli). We intend to streghthen our outreach by evangelizing to the native people. We are very grateful so far because we have received many donations from various parties in the form of used clothing, which we have distributed to native people. Our plan for this year is to construct better toilets in the homes of these natives as well as repairing damages in thier homes. Through this project, we hope to strengthen our bond with them in the same process, be able to share the Gospel.
